How We Evaluate Fire Inspection Software
Where our vendor facts come from, what verified, inferred and not-publicly-listed mean, how the Software Finder scores vendors, and how referral relationships are disclosed.
Where the facts come from
We track a fixed set of structured facts for every vendor: which inspection work types it supports, its core features, integrations, the business sizes it serves and its pricing model. Each fact carries a status:
- Verified — quoted word-for-word from the vendor's own published pages. We record the source page and the date we checked it, and the quote is shown next to the fact.
- Inferred — drawn from indirect or third-party sources. Shown with a hedge and never used in comparison tables.
- Not publicly listed — we could not find it on the vendor's site. We say so rather than guess.
We never invent capabilities, pricing or customer reviews, and we do not publish ratings. A vendor we have not finished researching shows mostly Not publicly listed cells; that is a statement about our research, not about the product.
How the Software Finder scores
The Software Finder asks a short questionnaire — work types, must-have capabilities, team size, integrations and budget. Each answer maps to specific vendor facts. Scoring is deterministic and versioned: verified facts count fully, inferred facts count half, and unknown facts count zero and are flagged. Only the questions you answer are counted, so skipping a question never penalises a vendor. The fit percentage is a match against your answers, not a rating of the vendor.
Weights are published in the scoring configuration for this vertical and change only through a reviewed methodology update.
Referral relationships and disclosure
We may earn a referral fee when you click through to a vendor and become a customer. Referral relationships never change how vendors are scored or ordered. Every claim on this site is marked as verified from the vendor's own published materials, inferred, or not publicly listed.
Where a vendor link is a referral link, the page says so. Referral status is not an input to scoring; the same answers produce the same ordering whether or not a referral relationship exists.
